The MA by Research Art program enables students to pursue self-directed study in their chosen field, guided by a team of academic advisors. We encourage research proposals spanning contemporary fine art, theoretical art discourse, art history, performance art, and community-focused artistic practices. This program offers both traditional thesis and practice-based options, where creative work documentation can partially substitute written components. Participants gain exhibition opportunities, present at postgraduate forums, attend conferences, and may publish in peer-reviewed journals. Students join active research clusters within the School and engage in the Critical Encounters Research Series alongside faculty and peers. The University additionally offers various skill-building workshops to enhance research capabilities.
