The need for skilled science journalists who can precisely and concisely cover health and environmental topics is increasing. This Master's program provides both practical and theoretical education for those aiming to convey scientific and environmental matters to broader audiences. At Lincoln, students discover how to transform scientific developments into compelling narratives while avoiding exaggeration or specialized terminology. To hone their abilities, students can practice with the University's community radio station, a digital platform, and campus publications. The program also features insights from prominent journalism figures. Past guest speakers have included naturalist Chris Packham, ITV News science editor Tom Clarke, rural affairs correspondent Tom Heap, and former chief scientific advisor Sir Mark Walport. Participants must complete an evaluated internship, with previous students securing positions at BBC Focus magazine, New Scientist, and the Vegan Society. Students cover their own expenses for travel, housing, and daily needs during these placements.
