This professionally recognized program equips future journalists with the skills to create news content meeting print and broadcast standards, transforming journalistic concepts into real-world story development.
Lincoln's digital newsroom environment enables students to cultivate a journalist's keen eye for stories, from identifying breaking news to formulating comprehensive features. Learners work in modern newsrooms equipped with cutting-edge mobile tech, print production tools, design software, and digital broadcasting facilities for radio and TV.
The curriculum evolves continuously to incorporate innovations in digital journalism and media convergence, taught by industry experts with varied professional backgrounds.
Participants explore journalism's historical foundations and theoretical frameworks while addressing crucial ethical and legal aspects. They apply these principles by creating news across multiple platforms - print, digital, radio, and television. From day one, students adopt a cross-platform approach to master core journalistic techniques while regularly producing news content.
During their second year, students engage in newsdays that simulate real-world media operations across various formats. Optional theory modules cover subjects like Media and Society, Journalism's Historical Development, and Global Human Rights.
The final year includes a mandatory module where students evaluate their 15-day work placement. The School's industry connections assist in securing positions with media companies. Note that participants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and living costs during placements.
