Our institution is globally recognized for outstanding cardiovascular research, covering the entire range from laboratory studies to clinical applications. Our research has significantly influenced patient care both nationally and worldwide. We maintain robust collaborations with the NHS, evidenced by our National Institute for Health Research Biomedical Research Centre designation with a Cardiovascular Disease focus. We excel in student education and take pride in receiving the Athena SWAN Silver Award. Doctoral candidates conduct independent research projects with support from faculty advisors, typically finishing within 3.0-3.5 years (full-time) or 6.0-6.5 years (part-time). An additional year (full-time) or two years (part-time) may be used for thesis preparation. The dissertation, limited to 50,000 words, must present original findings worthy of publication. Candidates must successfully defend their work in an oral examination to earn their degree.
