Leicester's Geography program stands out for its world-class research and education. Both faculty and students actively contribute to our vibrant research environment, with global field courses that bring research-driven learning to life. PhD candidates work on independent research projects with expert supervision, typically finishing within 3-3.5 years (full-time) or 6-6.5 years (part-time). An additional year (or remaining time) can be used for thesis preparation. The dissertation, capped at 50,000 words, must offer novel insights and meet publishing standards. Final degree conferral requires successful defense of the thesis in an oral examination.
