The Department of Chemistry has gained worldwide recognition for its pioneering studies in biological chemistry, sustainable chemistry, atmospheric science, and laser spectroscopy. Our institution provides PhD and MPhil programs aligned with faculty expertise, covering specialized fields such as: Spectroscopy, Dynamics and Atmospheric Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Materials and Interfaces, as well as Sustainable Synthesis and Catalysis. Doctoral candidates undertake independent research projects with supervision, typically spanning 3.0-3.5 years (full-time) or 6.0-6.5 years (part-time). An additional year (full-time) or seventh year (part-time) may be utilized for thesis preparation. The dissertation, limited to 50,000 words, must present novel findings and research worthy of publication. Candidates must successfully defend their work in an oral examination (viva voce) to obtain their degree.
