The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology conducts diverse research spanning physicochemical mechanisms to cellular and developmental biology. Doctoral candidates undertake an autonomous research project supervised by a team, typically within 3-3.5 years (full-time) or 6-6.5 years (part-time). An additional year (or remaining portion) may be allocated for thesis preparation, which must not exceed 50,000 words. The dissertation must offer novel insights and include publishable work, followed by an oral defense (viva voce) for degree conferral.
