The Department of Health Sciences focuses on advancing population health through world-class research and education, addressing health determinants, policy interventions, and methodological innovations. Our expertise spans epidemiology, medical statistics, public health, primary care, health services research, and psychiatry. PhD candidates undertake independent research projects supervised by faculty teams, typically completed within 3-3.5 years (full-time) or 6-6.5 years (part-time). An additional year (or remaining period) may be used for thesis preparation. The dissertation, limited to 50,000 words, must present original, publishable research contributing to the field. Final degree conferral requires successful defense of the thesis in an oral examination.
