The University of Leicester School of Business serves as an international hub for developing future leaders, innovators, and agents of change. With more than nine decades of excellence in business education, we're globally recognized for our programs in accounting, finance, management, marketing, and economics. Our commitment to fostering ethical business practices through collaborations with industry leaders has earned us a position among the UK's top 15 institutions for research influence. Doctoral candidates undertake self-directed research projects with support from faculty supervisors. Full-time students have up to four years to submit their thesis, with active research typically spanning 3-3.5 years. Following this phase, students may apply for an additional 12-month writing period, provided the total duration doesn't exceed the four-year limit. Theses are capped at 80,000 words and must demonstrate original scholarly contributions worthy of publication. Final degree conferral requires successful defense of the dissertation in an oral examination.
