The University of Leicester School of Business serves as an international hub for developing future leaders, innovators, and agents of change. With more than nine decades of excellence in business education, we're globally recognized for our programs in accounting, finance, management, marketing, and economics. Our collaborative research with industry leaders to advance ethical business practices has earned us a position as the UK's 14th strongest institution for research impact. Doctoral candidates undertake self-directed research projects with support from faculty advisors. Full-time students have up to 4 years to submit their thesis, with active research typically spanning 3 to 3.5 years. Following research completion, students may apply for a 12-month writing period, provided the combined duration doesn't exceed the 4-year limit. Theses, capped at 80,000 words, must demonstrate original scholarly contributions and research worthy of publication. Final degree conferral requires successful defense of the dissertation in an oral examination.
