The University of Leicester School of Business serves as an international hub for developing future leaders, innovators, and agents of change. With more than nine decades of business education excellence, we're globally recognized for our programs in accounting, finance, management, marketing, and economics. Our collaborative work with industry leaders to advance ethical business practices has earned us a 14th place UK ranking for research impact. Doctoral candidates undertake self-directed research projects with faculty supervision, with a maximum enrollment period of four years for full-time students. The intensive research phase (encompassing experiments, lab work, field studies, and data gathering) typically spans 3 to 3.5 years. Following this, students may apply for a 12-month writing period, provided the combined research and writing duration doesn't surpass the four-year limit. Theses have an 80,000-word cap and must demonstrate original scholarly contributions with publishable-quality work. Final degree conferral requires successful defense of the dissertation in an oral examination.
