As a Physics with Space Science student, you'll gain a deep understanding of modern physics principles and learn to apply mathematical, computational, and experimental techniques to solve practical challenges. You'll also develop specialized expertise in space science. Our Physics program shares a common foundation across all students, covering essential physics and mathematics as outlined by the Institute of Physics (IOP). This core curriculum encompasses classical mechanics, wave phenomena, electromagnetic theory, special relativity, thermodynamics, and quantum physics. Opting for the Space Science specialization allows you to explore these fundamentals while engaging with dedicated space science modules and participating in cutting-edge research projects. Our institution boasts one of Europe's most extensive on-campus space research facilities, and your specialized coursework will directly reflect our active research initiatives. These include significant contributions to the BepiColombo Mercury mission and the development of advanced detectors for satellites such as the collaborative US-UK-Italian Swift observatory, which investigates the universe's most energetic cosmic events.
