Our STEM Foundation Year programs combine Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics for students interested in fields like computer science who may not meet standard entry criteria. These programs operate on the University of Leicester campus alongside regular degree courses, where you'll study with peers who narrowly missed admission to similar programs. The initial foundation year (year 0) prepares you to advance directly to year 1 of our BSc or MComp Informatics degrees. Successful completion guarantees your place in your selected degree program. Instruction comes from our distinguished faculty across multiple departments, with a strong focus on developing crucial professional and personal skills for academic success and future careers. As a foundation year student, you'll fully participate in university life - joining the Students' Union, accessing campus facilities, living in university housing, and utilizing support services, all while receiving guidance from a dedicated personal tutor.
