The BA in History and Archaeology allows you to explore two complementary fields that deepen our comprehension of past human societies and cultures. While focusing primarily on medieval and contemporary eras, this program also offers insights into ancient civilizations. You'll analyze both written records and physical artifacts while investigating their interconnectedness. Fieldwork opportunities enable you to acquire diverse practical skills. Our cutting-edge facilities feature specialized equipment for hands-on training in scientific analytical methods. Students enjoy access to exceptional resources across nine dedicated laboratories, including upgraded Osteology, Zooarchaeology, and Materials research spaces. Through second and third-year module placements and our certified internship program, you can work with regional heritage groups, educational institutions, and our professional archaeology team. The initial two years balance archaeological and historical studies equally, while your final year dissertation may focus on either discipline.
