Pursuing a PhD typically requires a 3-year full-time or 5-year part-time commitment, during which you'll create novel insights while contextualizing them within current knowledge. You'll conduct research under the guidance of a principal supervisor and potentially additional co-supervisors, enhancing your research capabilities while cultivating diverse professional attributes. Transportation accounts for 20% of worldwide energy use and remains heavily reliant on fossil fuels. Within the UK, it stands as the sole significant economic sector where current greenhouse gas emissions exceed 1990 baseline levels. Developing sustainable, low-carbon energy solutions for transportation presents both a substantial challenge and a remarkable opportunity.
