Pursuing a PhD typically requires a commitment of 3 years for full-time study or 5 years part-time, during which you'll create original research and analyze how it relates to current knowledge. You'll work on a research project guided by a principal supervisor and additional co-supervisors, while enhancing your research capabilities and acquiring diverse skills. This research area specifically examines the human factors involved with connected and self-driving vehicles, including issues like driver transitions between automated and manual control, and the informational needs of other road users interacting with autonomous vehicles. Our work has received financial backing from the European Commission, UK research funding bodies, and the automotive sector.
