Theology and Religious Studies at Leeds forms a dynamic research community exploring the importance of religious ideas and practices and their connection to modern societal issues. Our team of approximately fourteen scholars specializes in diverse traditions including Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Sikhism, with particular focus on religious influences in Britain, Africa, and Southeast Asia. We employ multiple academic approaches—from anthropology and sociology to theology, scripture analysis, religious philosophy, and ethics—to investigate religion's intersections with pressing concerns like gender, sexuality, identity, racial dynamics, human migration, environmental challenges, media influences, and public health.
