Pursuing a postgraduate research degree demands commitment and enthusiasm for your chosen field. The journey is demanding but immensely fulfilling. As a doctoral candidate, you'll conduct specialized research under the guidance of a principal supervisor and additional co-supervisors. Our focus lies in studying soft matter physics - examining materials like liquid crystals, polymers, biopolymers, glasses, composites, gels, and colloids. Our experimental approach investigates core characteristics of soft materials while connecting findings to practical applications. Notable achievements include developing a synthetic molecular auxetic material (which expands when stretched), creating eco-friendly, high-strength single-component composites, and formulating gel-based solutions for lithium batteries.
