The Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (LIRMM) conducts research on musculoskeletal conditions, examining various disorders like inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, and prevalent pain-related issues such as osteoarthritis. Recognized as a European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) Centre of Excellence, our research spans fundamental science, translational studies, clinical trials, and health services investigations, all aimed at advancing disease comprehension and treatment. We partner with the Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering, specializing in musculoskeletal system research, including joint replacement, tissue regeneration, and spinal interventions. Additionally, we collaborate with the School of Dentistry to explore the underlying mechanisms of oral and musculoskeletal diseases, enhancing treatment approaches, functional restoration, and preventive strategies.
