Viruses, as obligatory intracellular parasites, infect organisms across all biological domains. Our faculty conducts groundbreaking studies on pathogenic viruses affecting humans and animals, applying these discoveries to advance healthcare and agricultural sustainability. Our research encompasses diverse areas such as viral pathogenesis, host-pathogen interactions, tumor virology, immune responses, structural virology, and therapeutic/vaccine development. Current investigations focus on hepatitis viruses, picornaviruses, emerging arboviruses (including Chikungunya and Zika), and cancer-associated DNA viruses like Kaposi's Sarcoma herpesvirus, human papillomavirus, and polyomaviruses.
