Pursuing a research degree in the Faculty of Biological Sciences allows you to cultivate expertise as an autonomous investigator in your selected discipline. Guided by your principal supervisor and additional co-supervisors, you'll conduct pioneering research on specific biological challenges while joining a vibrant academic community employing cross-disciplinary methods to address contemporary scientific inquiries. During your doctoral studies, you'll not only deepen your subject-specific expertise but also enhance professional capabilities through structured training initiatives, seminar participation, and conference engagements.

Our broadest research objectives involve comprehensive examination of ecosystems and biodiversity. Foundational investigations into spatial and temporal biodiversity patterns, particularly their evolution amid environmental shifts, constitute central aspects of our research agenda. Faculty members address diverse theoretical questions in biodiversity science, exploring species distribution dynamics across landscapes and developing innovative measurement and quantification methodologies.
