Pursuing a postgraduate research degree requires strong commitment and enthusiasm for your chosen field. The journey may be demanding, but the rewards are immense. As a doctoral candidate, you'll undertake specialized research under the guidance of a principal supervisor and additional co-supervisors.

Just like people, infrastructure struggles against the effects of time. Whether it's deteriorating road surfaces or rusting bridge supports, we regularly witness the shortcomings in our constructed surroundings. Interestingly, although new projects often dominate news coverage, approximately 50% of the UK's yearly construction expenditure goes toward repairing and maintaining existing structures. To guarantee our built environment remains functional for the coming decades, we must carefully select durable materials capable of exceeding their expected service life.
