Pursuing a research degree in the Faculty of Biological Sciences allows you to cultivate expertise as an autonomous investigator in your selected discipline. Guided by your principal supervisor and additional co-supervisors, you'll conduct pioneering research on specific biological challenges while joining a vibrant academic community employing cross-disciplinary methods to address contemporary scientific inquiries. During your doctoral studies, you'll not only enhance your specialized research capabilities but also acquire transferable skills through structured training initiatives, seminar participation, and conference engagements.
Biopharmaceuticals constitute biologically derived macromolecules or cellular elements that serve therapeutic or diagnostic purposes. Our faculty specialists in molecular biophysics, structural biology, virology, and microbiology focus on translating their findings into enhanced biopharmaceutical production. Research spans multiple domains: creating targeted therapeutics using either small molecules or biological macromolecules, investigating protein folding to guarantee drug stability and efficacy, employing Affimer technology to modulate biological processes, and examining viral pathogens to develop vaccines against epidemics threatening both public health and food security.
