Our society relies heavily on agriculture's capacity to generate enough nutritious food. Yet current farming methods negatively affect ecosystems, worldwide biodiversity, and climate patterns. The growing emphasis on sustainable agriculture stems from three critical challenges: expanding global population, mounting environmental strain, and shifting climate conditions. This multidisciplinary program leverages our faculty's strengths in sustainable agriculture research while incorporating diverse knowledge from across the university and external partners like the Global Food and Environment Institute. Through interdisciplinary, research-focused teaching, you'll gain comprehensive insights into agricultural and food production challenges.
The program first covers core principles of sustainable agriculture from multiple viewpoints before exploring advanced research areas. You'll examine various agricultural advancements such as ecosystem management, sustainable livestock practices, genetic engineering, and crop biotechnology. Alongside learning about cutting-edge research, you'll develop practical skills through hands-on fieldwork and technical training. These experiences will equip you with valuable research capabilities for your final project, conducted under guidance from leading academic or industry specialists. We actively promote collaborative research opportunities with global food production organizations.
