Students undertake specialized research projects under the guidance of a principal supervisor and additional co-supervisors.
Thermal management and fluid dynamics play crucial roles across diverse industries, from massive industrial furnaces and data centers to HVAC systems and precision temperature control for PCR testing. Our approach combines Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods with experimental verification to analyze and enhance these systems. Given the computational intensity of CFD, we emphasize integrating it with metamodel optimization strategies for more efficient thermal and fluid flow solutions. Our work has led to enhanced performance and energy efficiency in fuel filtration systems, emergency vehicles, drilling tools, and mixing apparatus. Current research focuses on circulation control for wind turbine torque enhancement, vehicle thermal systems, pipeline friction reduction using polymers, and cooling solutions for electronic components.
