This 12-month program involves no formal coursework, focusing instead on independent research culminating in a thesis. Like a PhD, you'll work with a supervisor specializing in your chosen field. The MSc by Research enhances both academic and practical abilities, serving as an ideal pathway for those wanting deeper exploration of their subject without committing to doctoral studies. Many graduates progress to PhD programs or industry positions.

Our research examines cardiac remodeling and repair mechanisms in both healthy and diseased states. These cardiac adaptations occur at various biological scales throughout life. A particularly debated topic involves the degree of heart muscle regeneration after injury and the potential involvement of stem cells. Our investigations employ diverse methodologies: stem cell biology, cardiovascular changes across aging, high-resolution imaging of molecular cardiac processes, and computational disease modeling. Techniques span from molecular analysis to cellular studies and optical mapping of heart electrical activity.
