The Master of Philosophy degree is granted upon completion of a substantial thesis (typically 200 pages or 60,000 words) that demonstrates research capabilities meeting peer-review standards. Examiners must confirm your ability to conduct scholarly work of publishable quality, achievable within two to three years of full-time study (or four to six years part-time). Additionally, you'll need to show comprehensive understanding of your research field. This program is ideal for students with two years of research funding.

Transportation accounts for 20% of worldwide energy use, with petroleum remaining its primary fuel source. Within the UK, it stands as the sole significant economic sector where greenhouse gas emissions have increased since 1990 baseline levels. Developing sustainable, low-carbon energy solutions for transportation presents both a significant challenge and a remarkable opportunity for innovation.
