Faith traditions persistently influence our communities and worldview. Expanding our comprehension of spiritual doctrines and customs proves vital for addressing today's most pressing moral and societal dilemmas. This program examines how belief systems support, challenge, or transform political and cultural dynamics. You'll investigate theology's significance, holy texts, ceremonial practices, and religious institutions regarding modern concerns like environmental crises, extremism, international progress, identity politics, and human rights. The curriculum also analyzes competing interpretations of spirituality within political theories and social transformation frameworks, examining contentious subjects including secularism, faith-based identity politics, and religion's public role. Students may select a focused track in theology, international development, or gender studies.
