Our MA in Medieval Studies equips you with comprehensive knowledge of medieval culture and society through diverse interdisciplinary methods. You'll collaborate with top scholars in Medieval Studies from across the university while honing your analytical abilities in Latin and other historical languages including Old Norse, Arabic, Persian, medieval English, and Turkish. A Leeds Medieval Studies degree serves as a foundation for pioneering research spanning Europe, the Mediterranean region, and Asia.

Regardless of your prior Latin experience, our intensive language program will elevate your proficiency to an advanced level, preparing you to examine various medieval sources—both printed texts and manuscripts. Additionally, you'll acquire expertise in palaeography (analyzing ancient handwriting), primary document interpretation, and translation techniques.

Qualification Requirements

A bachelor degree with a 2:1 (Hons) or higher, or equivalent. Previous specialised study in an aspect of the pre-modern world, especially medieval studies, would be an advantage.

IELTS 6.5 overall and no less than 6.0 in each component skill
TOEFL iBT - 88 overall and no less than 19 in listening, 20 in reading, 22 in speaking and 21 in writing.
