The BA Sociology program investigates the relationships between people and broader social structures. You'll analyze evolving social, cultural, economic, and political dynamics, including the identities, disparities, and policies influencing modern life. Connecting theoretical concepts with real-world challenges, you'll evaluate how traditional, current, and emerging perspectives (or influential theorists' ideas) can illuminate societal concerns like criminal behavior, accessibility challenges, family dynamics, gender equality, racial discrimination, and environmental issues. You'll investigate social disparities, activism, and power conflicts while assessing sociology's contemporary relevance.
Numerous elective courses enable you to specialize in areas aligning with your passions and professional goals, ranging from postcolonial studies to feminist theory, environmental challenges, and cultural analysis. Your education will be enriched by cutting-edge research conducted within the department by scholars with remarkably varied expertise.
