The BA in International History and Politics offers an exceptional chance to explore today's key global issues through the lens of their recent historical context. This program examines world affairs from the late 1800s to today, covering pivotal moments like the causes and consequences of WWI, the interwar years, WWII and its aftermath, the Cold War era, and post-Cold War developments including the impact of the 'war on terror'.
By analyzing critical tensions and transformations in international relations, the course explores major global shifts over the past century. Students examine statecraft and diplomacy alongside the growing influence of international institutions and non-state actors. The curriculum addresses evolving notions of security, transnational issues like European refugee movements or Latin American revolutions, and regional histories of areas such as the Middle East or East Asia. Students may also investigate historical crises, conflicts, inequalities, and the enduring effects of disputed international events.
