This five-year program offers an immersive study of two globally significant languages while providing insights into the contemporary world through the lens of their native cultures. You'll dedicate one academic year in an Arabic-speaking nation and another in a Russian-speaking environment, enhancing your linguistic abilities while experiencing these societies firsthand to develop a nuanced perspective of these captivating regions.
You'll achieve fluency in Arabic while examining the cultural, religious, and historical influences that have shaped the Middle East and North Africa. The curriculum also addresses current regional concerns, investigating topics like cultural identity, gender dynamics, sexual orientation, and racial issues.
Spanning five years, this program includes two overseas study periods during your second and third years. For the Arabic component, you may attend institutions like Morocco's Arabic Language Institute in Fes (ALIF) or Jordan Language Academy in Amman. Additionally, you'll complete a year of intensive Russian language training in a Russian-speaking country.
