As the nearest star to Earth, the Sun serves as both the gravitational anchor and geometric heart of our Solar System, supplying the essential light, warmth, and energy that sustain life on our planet. Its impact reaches across an enormous area known as the Heliosphere, encompassing all planetary bodies within our solar neighborhood. Being relatively close at just 150 million kilometers (a minuscule distance in cosmic terms), we're able to examine the Sun with extraordinary precision. Understanding this star's interactions with Earth holds tremendous significance. The solar research team specializes in investigating our star and its influence on our planet. This Solar Physics group operates under the Jeremiah Horrocks Institute.
