Our academic institute specializes in teaching and research across Mathematics, Physics, and Astronomy. Located in Preston within the University of Central Lancashire, the institute comprises approximately 30 faculty members dedicated to teaching and research.
Founded in 1927 as the Jeremiah Horrocks Observatory (JHO) at Moor Park, it evolved into the Centre for Astrophysics in 1993. In 2004, it was rebranded as the Jeremiah Horrocks Institute (JHI) for Astrophysics and Super-Computing.
