Our faculty in Literature and Cultures comprises globally recognized scholars specializing in American, British, and non-British European literary traditions. The British literature specialists concentrate on modern poetry and contemporary fiction, while our Creative Writing program benefits from faculty who have published novels, poetry collections, and produced theatrical works. Our American studies scholars explore diverse fields including Black Atlantic cultural studies, African American slavery memorialization, visual arts, humor studies, Civil War cultural impacts, 1970s cultural movements, protest music, and transatlantic theater and performance. Faculty members have earned prestigious research fellowships from organizations like the AHRC, British Academy, BMI Foundation, and European Union. We regularly serve as peer reviewers for funding agencies, academic presses, and top-tier journals across Europe and North America.
