Our Archaeology program is co-accredited by the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) and University Archaeology UK (UAUK). You'll gain practical fieldwork experience combining humanities, social sciences, and core sciences - perfect for launching your professional journey.
Archaeology offers a hands-on, interdisciplinary degree that develops highly valued transferable skills like critical thinking, communication, and teamwork. Starting in your first week, you'll participate in actual excavations to practice these skills. You'll analyze diverse artifacts including human remains, Paleolithic tools, Anglo-Saxon adornments, and contemporary ancient DNA findings.
Beyond classroom learning, you'll complete annual fieldwork placements either in the UK or internationally, contributing to genuine excavations, making discoveries, and participating in innovative research. Our alumni have worked at renowned sites like Wiltshire's Avebury and Stonehenge, Orkney's Neolithic settlements, and Cambridgeshire's Anglo-Saxon burial grounds, among many others.
