Kent's Environmental Social Science program offers a dynamic, interdisciplinary approach to addressing the pressing environmental challenges confronting our world today.
Program Highlights
These cross-departmental Environmental Social Science initiatives leverage the collective knowledge within the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Social science approaches are essential for both comprehending and resolving environmental concerns. Human activities shape numerous aspects of our natural surroundings, from geographical formations to ecological disasters. Environmental regulations at local, national, and global levels govern how institutions, authorities, and individuals interact with nature. Social sciences provide invaluable insights into what we identify as environmental problems and the most efficient strategies to address them.
Our multidisciplinary Environmental Social Science curriculum incorporates expertise from Anthropology, Conservation and Ecology, Law, Social Policy, and Sociology. Kent maintains robust research programs in each of these fields, allowing our courses to build upon a solid academic foundation.
