This program is tailored for individuals currently employed or planning to work in the criminal justice sector, including roles with police, probation services, prisons, or related organizations, as well as those with a general interest in the field. It explores UK criminal law and procedures, along with international and comparative perspectives. The curriculum analyzes criminal justice systems through various lenses such as organizational management, human rights, psychological and sociological factors behind criminal behavior, and socioeconomic viewpoints. The program maintains strong collaboration with the MA in Criminology offered by the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research, allowing LLM and MA students to enroll in modules from both degrees. The criminology faculty includes experts in diverse areas like criminological theory, research methodologies, youth crime, gender studies, cultural criminology, and terrorism.
Career readiness is a university-wide priority, and Kent Law School provides specialized support through an Employability and Career Development Officer, along with numerous work placement options, career-focused events, and professional talks.
