Our graduate researchers thrive within an active academic community, receiving strong support and numerous chances to critically examine scholarly work and current topics. They become part of an intellectual atmosphere that places legal scholarship within its broader historical, political, social, and economic framework. Alongside traditional campus-based programs, we offer an external research option. This alternative path caters to emerging scholars and professionals balancing research with other responsibilities. It's particularly suitable for candidates pursuing an LLM-R who cannot relocate. International applicants planning to complete their degree remotely won't need visa sponsorship and should select the external research option, explicitly mentioning this in their application's Reasons for Study section.
The LLM by Research (LLM-R) offers both full-time and part-time enrollment options. Part-time LLM-R study delivers both fulfillment and academic rigor. Though individual needs vary, students should typically dedicate two weekly days to intensive research, plus mandatory training sessions. There may be phases requiring more concentrated research and writing efforts. We discourage full-time employment during part-time LLM-R studies and recommend that working applicants detail their planned study-work balance strategy in their application materials.
