This interdisciplinary program caters to students passionate about both engineering and biomedical fields. Leveraging our proven strengths in engineering technologies and collaborative research with the School of Biosciences, this program cultivates engineers with robust biological and medical science foundations.
The curriculum harnesses the School of Engineering's proficiency in medical-electronic systems development and the School of Biosciences' extensive research capabilities. Our instruction incorporates cutting-edge research through case studies featuring current industry trends and innovative technologies.

The program holds accreditation from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), facilitating accelerated professional engineering career advancement.
Modern biotechnology and research sectors increasingly demand engineers capable of designing comprehensive solutions for complex integrated systems. Kent's Biomedical Engineering program transcends conventional boundaries, training engineers to create systems for medical applications and biological research.

First-year students receive comprehensive training in biomedical engineering fundamentals, covering digital technologies, biochemistry, electronics, cellular biology, robotics, and engineering mathematics. The curriculum includes hands-on laboratory work in both electronics and biology.

During subsequent years, students explore compulsory and elective modules that expand on first-year concepts, including biomechanics, human physiology, bioinformatics, medical physics, programming, and product development. A design or development-focused engineering project completes the academic journey.

The program emphasizes practical experience, guiding students in constructing bioscience-oriented electronic devices with supervision from engineering and bioscience faculty. Students also benefit from seminars conducted by biomedical engineering professionals from industry, research institutions, and healthcare organizations.
