Our chemistry department collaborates closely with biologists, medical professionals, engineers (including chemical engineers), environmental scientists, and through the Hull York Medical School, with physicians on diverse projects and programs.
Our chemistry department maintains some of the UK's most extensive research partnerships and industry connections, working with chemical companies ranging from local to international scale, including major players like: AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson-Matthey, Pfizer, Reckitt-Benckiser, Schlumberger and Unilever. Our research leads to commercial applications through patents, licensing agreements, and spin-off ventures such as Chemtrix, Kingston Chemicals, Polar OLED and Sporomex. The Institute for Chemistry in Industry runs a well-established materials analysis consultancy serving manufacturing businesses in the Hull and Humber area and their supply networks.
