This course will enhance your writing abilities by focusing on fundamental skills and methods. You'll explore various forms including scripts, non-fiction, short fiction, novels, and poetry. The curriculum also covers diverse genres ranging from fantasy and sci-fi to mythology and folklore. Additionally, you'll examine cinema and television through artistic, historical, cultural, and commercial lenses.

Numerous opportunities exist to engage with our vibrant writing and film community. For creative writing, join our student-run English Society or Write HU. HUWrites offers performance platforms through showcases and student-produced podcasts. You can also contribute to our campus publications, Document 1 and Hull Scribbler, gaining hands-on editorial experience.

Film students can gain valuable professional experience through placements, including participation in Screen Yorkshire's Connected Campus initiative. This program prepares you for media careers through specialized workshops, masterclasses, and industry guest lectures.
