This English Language and Creative Writing program offers an engaging way to study two complementary disciplines. You'll investigate how English functions, its usage patterns, and its historical evolution while honing your abilities to write across diverse formats. The curriculum includes analyzing language structure and its societal applications, with creative writing components taught in intimate workshop settings by accomplished researchers and professional authors. The linguistic studies portion covers English grammar (including word and sentence formation), semantics across extended texts, phonetics, sociolinguistic variations, and language evolution. You'll examine English's historical development, regional dialects, global varieties, and its societal roles in education and international communication. As an aspiring writer, you'll experiment with various genres and styles while receiving feedback from peers and faculty within our supportive writing community. The university and surrounding area offer rich cultural opportunities, including literary organizations and platforms to showcase your creative output. Optional Placement Year and International Experience Year available.
