A Master's by Research (MSc) offers a one-year full-time research program with minimal structured coursework. This format provides an opportunity to investigate a research subject in less time than a comprehensive PhD program.
Unlike taught Master's programs, research Master's candidates select a focused project and enjoy more autonomy in their academic work.
Students collaborate with their supervisor to establish an approved study plan during the initial months. Throughout the research process, participants can enhance their skills through specialized training workshops and academic events.
The program culminates in a concise thesis of approximately 25,000 words, which undergoes formal evaluation.
Successful graduates receive their degree and may choose to pursue a full doctoral program (PhD) if they wish to continue their research journey.

The normal entry requirements for enrolment on a MSc by Research is an upper second honours degree (2.1) from a UK university or a qualification of an equivalent standard, in a discipline appropriate to that of the proposed programme to be followed.
