About the research program
The Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) stands among the UK's most esteemed and advanced management credentials. At Huddersfield, we recognize that tomorrow's professional leaders require top-tier leadership training and personal growth. This program emphasizes applying robust theory and thorough research to intricate business and management challenges, grounded in advancing and utilizing knowledge and theory.
The initial two years involve structured coursework that prepares students for the doctoral research stage, concluding with a thesis submission. Four classroom-based modules cover essential research methodologies. Advancement to the research phase is contingent upon successful completion of these taught components.
The doctoral research phase forms the core of the DBA/DPA program. Students undertake an independent, supervised research project documented as a doctoral thesis. This involves critically examining an approved subject to produce an original contribution to professional knowledge, often with practical implications. Drawing from skills acquired during coursework, students showcase appropriate research methodologies for their chosen field. Additionally, they must submit a reflective statement detailing personal and professional growth throughout the program, highlighting connections to their research interests, analytical skills, creative problem-solving, and workplace innovation.
