Your Journalism instructors are working journalists and media scholars with expertise across multiple platforms, where you'll develop skills in both writing and broadcasting. Numerous extracurricular options exist, including student clubs and organizations. Members of our Oral History team have contributed interviews to a BBC Radio 4 program that received recognition from the Royal Historical Society's Public History Prize. Journalism students frequently join our Journalism Society or attend Media Matters events to network with professionals - from feature agency recruiters to media entrepreneurs.
Hertfordshire stands among a select group of UK universities maintaining an active Oral History initiative, dedicated to preserving personal narratives on contemporary themes like migration and aging. Students can launch their own projects, following our collaborations with Watford FC, Stevenage FC, local nonprofits, and community groups - documenting diverse experiences from immigrant stories to aviation history.
