Pursue an MPhil/PhD in Health Sciences to expand your expertise and conduct impactful research that shapes policies and transforms lives.

Our Health Sciences research program emphasizes nursing, mental health, psychosocial health factors, healthcare workforce studies, and policy research. With guidance from experienced supervisors, you'll master qualitative and/or quantitative methods to develop a significant research contribution.

Specializations include public health, healthcare systems, clinical simulation, health experiences, sexual health, mental wellness, addiction studies, health economics, gerontology, and chronic illness management.

As a doctoral candidate, you'll access the Institute for Lifecourse Development's (ILD) research facilities. The ILD hosts regular academic events like seminar series, 3-Minute-Thesis contests, and research cafés. PhD candidates may receive funding support and opportunities to present at global conferences.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants should have:

A taught Master's degree in a relevant subject, with a minimum average of 60% in all areas of assessment (eg Merit) level or above and/or
A First Class or Second Class, First Division (Upper Second Class) Honours degree in a relevant subject.
In addition to the above, applicants whose first language is not English must also meet the English Language requirement, which is:

A Bachelors or Master's degree transcript from the UK or UKVI recognised Majority English Speaking Country (MESC).
Or

IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in each skill.
Required documentation:

Curriculum Vitae (CV), including the names of two referees (written references can also be provided using the reference form)
A detailed research proposal of about 1,500 words
