Our PhD programs span Economics, Finance, and Quantitative Finance. Economics PhD candidates can: participate in workshop sessions to present and refine their ongoing research with peers and faculty, enroll in advanced MSc courses to enhance their expertise when beneficial, and access the College of Social Sciences Graduate School Research Training program as needed.
Research students may qualify for Graduate Teaching Assistant roles, conducting tutorials for first- and second-year undergraduates while assisting with grading assignments and exams. These teaching positions follow standard university pay rates, with engaged GTAs potentially earning around £1,500 annually after mandatory training. PhD candidates typically become eligible for GTA positions starting their second year, with openings advertised near the end of the spring semester. Our curriculum emphasizes rigorous research methodology training while providing access to stimulating seminars, conferences, and academic events. Students benefit from contemporary library resources, IT infrastructure, and comprehensive support services while residing in one of Europe's most dynamic cultural and social hubs.
