Economic and Social History applies historical perspectives to social science disciplines, combining diverse intellectual frameworks with the rigorous methodology of historical investigation.

These specializations are evident in our vibrant postgraduate research community of approximately 20 doctoral students, comprising both full-time and part-time scholars from diverse international and local backgrounds. Many receive funding from prestigious organizations like the ESRC and AHRB.
As part of the University of Glasgow - a comprehensive, multidisciplinary institution - students benefit from extensive opportunities to collaborate across the School of Social & Political Sciences, the College of Social Sciences (including the Adam Smith Business School), and other academic units such as History within the College of Arts & Humanities.
