This degree serves as strong preparation for careers in political sectors, journalism, strategic communications, diplomacy, and similar fields.
Our expert faculty members, who actively research political communication topics, deliver the curriculum. Courses cover both fundamental theories and the most current advancements in the field. We foster an engaging learning atmosphere with significant opportunities for student-faculty interaction. You'll participate in lively debates about pressing issues, from social media's influence to media bias and the impact of misinformation.
MSc candidates will collaborate with a supervisor on their dissertation—an independent research project—gaining valuable research skills prized by employers. The program helps develop versatile abilities, including effectively communicating complex concepts both orally and in writing, and constructing persuasive arguments grounded in thorough evidence analysis. As Scotland's only program of its kind, it stands out in the UK for being primarily taught by Politics and International Relations experts rather than Media Studies scholars.
